Since 1998, Desert Rose Landscape & Maintenance has been providing landscaping and general ground maintenance services to Santa Fe, NM. Phil Madrid, owner and operator found his passion in his own backyard while tending to his own 24 rose bushes.
Desert Rose operated for 19 years through word of mouth, occasional print ad buys, and local event sponsorships with no digital presence. Phil was VERY hesitant but was sold on digital strategies after investing time in meeting with Gary.
Alinea began with a deep dive into the business. It was critical to differentiate Desert Rose from the rest of the competitive industry, which meant educating the Santa Fe community about Licensed vs. Non-Licensed landscaping companies.
Gary helped to establish Desert Rose’s website and worked on traditional SEO+SEM with Phil. Together they dived head first into paid digital advertising on Facebook with strategic seasonal Google Ads. Alinea also created an online presence on Facebook and Instagram, featuring content to educate, “show off” their expertise/experience, and provide free value to the community. Lastly, a monthly newsletter and educational blog were started to keep the community connected and engaged with Desert Rose’s landscaping expertise.
After 1 year, Desert Rose’s revenues increased by 33% and net profit by 28%.
For the first time in 20 years, Desert Rose was also nominated for BEST Landscaper of Santa Fe 2019. They have been showcased in numerous magazines including the 2019 Haciendas Magazine.
Moving forward, Alinea will continue to educate and train an internal staff member to take over the duties of social media management and paid advertising. The ongoing goal for Desert Rose is to continue to build a strong and growing brand as well as finding opportunities to provide more value to the local community.
